Ouch. This opponent had run 9/4 over 100 hands or so which I felt like was a result of running cold and semi-tight play as his showdown hands had not been monsters. the cold-call preflop had a few purposes:

- If he had AK, he may cbet the flop but if I call he's likely to shut down and I can win the pot from position.

- If he has an overpair, the fact that we are so deep gives me very respectable setmining odds.

The flop was obviously scary. I've hit middle set, but because I felt like his range was basically QQ, KK, AA, and AK, I'm not in great shape. Maybe 46% equity against the range, and he's not stacking off with AA all the time here (I think he has real trouble laying down KK). Still, I just couldn't fold the set, and after he came over the top felt like it was my duty to push. Obv I got very lucky.

Still, this is the stuff that's been happening to me in big pots all throughout the year, so I don't feel too bad. It's definitely a hell of a way to kick off the month.
